Go to Applications and drag the Photos icon back into the dock.

Application=launch pad

If so it's gone from there

Not Launchpad. In the Applications itself. Unless you deleted the entire Photos App which means you will need to reinstall your OSX.

Are you asking about the Photos application icon or do you have a missing photo thumbnail in the Aperture application?

If the problem is with the Photos app, you are posting your question in the wrong forum.

This is what happens when people think spelling and grammar aren't important.
