Aug 10, 2015 12:33 AM in response to andrew5207by Terence Devlin,Give us a context. Is there also a Photos library on there that was migrated from iPhoto?
As for the different totals of the folders, that's a Finder question and not an iPhoto one. I'd ask that on the Yosemite forum.

Aug 10, 2015 12:38 PM in response to Terence Devlinby andrew5207,Yes. There is ~87GB photos library there as well. I was told the old iphoto library has been migrated to photos library and it is safe to be deleted. I will ask this question to Finder forum as well.

Aug 10, 2015 12:44 PM in response to andrew5207by Terence Devlin,The Photos and the iPhoto Libraries are interrelated by use of Unix Hard Links.
In a nutshell: they both claim to use 50 gigs (or whatever) of disk space, but it's the same 50 gigs. So, when you delete the iPhoto Library you only get back the amount of space that is specific to iPhoto only - database, cache, metadata and thumbnails - but not the actual photos and previews as they are also used by Photos.
So, the result that deleting your iPhoto Library and getting 24 gigs back sounds about right to me.

Aug 10, 2015 1:02 PM in response to Terence Devlinby andrew5207,OK, you are probably right. The thing that bothers me is the "other" when I "get_info" of my Mac. It has ~80GB. Now sure what is that.
Also when I "get_info" for "user" directory (164GB), and every sub directories (Total ~120GB, photo+itune+document), the number just can't add up. But I think it is the question for Finder.
Right now, the HD left space is only ~48GB after iphoto library deleted. If I back it up from ext. drive, that means space is not enough?
