Windows 8.1 hangs on restart if Apple Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter connected

Hi,

I recently purchased a Dell T1700 as I need a CAD workstation with a dedicated CAD GPU, however I also do audio production. The computer has an Intel Thunderbolt card in the PCI-E slot.

The issue I have is that whenever the thunderbolt to firewire adapter is plugged in (on its own or with firewire device attached) the PC will hang on restart, but a cold startup works fine. Operation of the adapter is fine otherwise. Thus the only issue is that I cannot restart my PC if the adapter is connected without a system hang after POST and my firewire device cannot be hot-plugged. (Saffire Pro24 DSP)

The PC works flawlessly in all operations without the adapter connected.

I have had Dell send an engineer and replace the thunderbolt card - same issue.

Other TB devices work fine.

The adapter works fine on mac.

I have been searching for the past week and I have not seen this issue at all on google or bing. Does anyone have any idea as to what the issue might be?

Cheers
