Hello

I got trouble for months with my mac book pro mid 2011

Sometimes when i reboot the laptop i have no sounds available.

I got this (printscreen)

User uploaded file

The only way i found to solve the issue is to reboot and reboot again with CMD ALT P R

I m under Yosemite, but i have the issue since Mavericks (as far as i remember)

The only modification done on my mac is that i have upgraded the memory to 8go then to 16go with 1600Mhz DDR3 memory.

I have search here and on internet but see no one having the same issue. Anyone to help ???

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

Greetings Jaydiohead,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

I understand that occasionally when you restart your MacBook Pro you do not have an option for sound input or output. In this situation, there are a few different resources I would suggest reading over and working through to help isolate and resolve this issue.

The first article I would suggest working though is attached below and will help you troubleshoot the audio issue directly.

Troubleshooting issues with no audio from built-in speakers on Macs - Apple Support

If, after working through the above article, the audio issues continue, I would suggest reading over and working through the following article. This article will help you isolate the issue on a slightly bigger scale.

Isolating issues in Mac OS X - Apple Support

Cheers
