How to format external hard drives

I have got a problem, I tried to copy some files from an external hard disk to another. I tried to format the destination disk in all the way my Mac is able but it is not possible to copy files larger than 25MB (image files from my camera Canon 5d markIII). My computer is a MacBook air, the operative system is yosemite, the external hard drive are WD 1 Tb the source, 750 GB the destination, the two are new. Waiting for a suggestion.

Try Mac OS Extended (Journal) with Option GUID.

Sorry I just tried every kind of format, like mac os extended but it doesn't work. Obviously I made a mistake to write solved

Would you make a screen shot of Disk Utility so people can see what you are seeing? Make sure you cover any personal information using Preview. Post the screen shot in a Reply using the camera icon or you can drag the screen shot into a reply. Copy and paste doesn't work.
