Aug 10, 2015 7:32 AM in response to Duncan Lawby Phil0124,You can only use U.K. iTunes gift cards with U.K. based iTunes accounts. i.e If you currently have a U.S based iTunes Apple ID, you will not be able to redeem a U.K. Gift Card onto it.
You can change the location of your Apple ID, but you will need to provide a valid method of Payment for the country you are changing to, and a valid Billing address for said Payment method.
In other words, yes, you need a UK credit card if you want to redeem UK gift cards onto your account.

Aug 10, 2015 8:27 AM in response to Duncan Lawby Phil0124,When you create a new Apple ID you can do so using a Gift Card yes, no Credit Card is required.
But if you already have an Apple ID, changing locations requires a credit card.
Which scenario are you in?
If you are going to create a new Apple ID, using a U.K. Gift card, then you can do so. But all purchases made with it will remain tied to it, and will not be able to merged to any other Apple ID if you already have one.

Aug 10, 2015 8:28 AM in response to Duncan Lawby King_Penguin,You shouldn't have to fill in credit card details, these instructions for creating a new account work here in the UK : Create an iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store account without a credit card or other payment method - Apple Suppor…
If you want to download paid-for items then redeeming a UK iTunes gift card onto the account should let you do so, that also shouldn't require a credit card to be entered for you to be able to use your balance.

Aug 10, 2015 9:10 PM in response to King_Penguinby Duncan Law,I figured that in the Billing Info section on my Apple ID account, there is a section which says 'To redeem a code, click here'. This is already on the list under Payment Information, where None can be chose and you can buy stuff by choosing the redeem option. So if I bought the card when I am there, can I redeem it and start buying paid stuff without having to type in the credit card information?

Aug 11, 2015 8:13 AM in response to Duncan Lawby Phil0124,NO. NO.
As I said, if your account's region is set to U.K. you can redeem a U.K.Gift card yes. No issues there.
But again, if your account is set to the U.S. (or any other country besides the U.K) You will not be able to redeem a U.K. Gift card without changing your account's region to the U.K.
When you change your account's region, a Credit card will be required.
You cannot redeem a country specific Gift card on an account that is not set to that country.
