Wireless mouse is not working

Hello,

We have a wireless Magic Mouse to use with our Mac OSX Desktop (Version 10.7.5). The mouse kept disconnecting so I thought it needed a new battery. I put a new battery in and it still will not run. When I turn the mouse on, the light flashes on the back but the mouse does not connect to the computer. What can we do?
