Q: I do not have a credit card but my itunes account is a debit/credit card.

I did not know it would not allow me to sign up with my current card.  My account says I am using family but I don't access.  I then tried to sign up my son with his email and it says he is already signed up.  It seems I am half signed-up and can't use it.

My current debit/credit card has been good enough for years and I do not want a credit card.  Can someone tell me if there is a work around.  If not, how do I undo the "in limbo" family  plan?

    Hello Steven,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

From your post I understand that you are trying to get Family Sharing set up and you have a child under the age of 13.  A credit card is required to establish Family Sharing with a child under the age of 13.  To learn why this is required, please look at the information below.

Create an Apple ID for your child

Before you begin, make sure that you're using a credit card as your iTunes Store and App Store payment method. To comply with child online privacy protection laws, you will use the CVV or security code from a valid credit card as part of providing your parental consent. If the card on file is a debit card or another payment method, you’ll be asked to provide a credit card before you can continue. After you create the child's Apple ID, you can change your payment method back to a debit card.

After you add your child to your family group, they will have their own Apple ID that they can use on any Apple device. Your email address will be the rescue email address for your child’s account, and you can use it with the security questions you provided to reset a forgotten password.

    Take care.

However here is says: "Valid payment methods for setting up Family Sharing include credit cards or debit cards"  https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201079

My bank card has been good enough for years, for buying computers, music, and apps.  It has a CVV numbers  Why isn't it good enough now?  It appears Apple is telling me I must applied for and get a credit card or I can't utilize Family Sharing.  I do not want a credit card!
