Aug 10, 2015 3:49 PM in response to jtscolaby elcpu,No, if you delete them on the phone they will also delete from iCloud. Best if you import or copy your pictures and videos to your computer and after you have verified that they are on you computer and safely stored, then delete them from the phone.

Aug 10, 2015 6:24 PM in response to jtscolaby elcpu,That is because you have iCloud set to sync across all your devices. You can avoid this by going to iCloud on both devices and deselecting Photos, etc (whatever you do not want to auto sync). I personally prefer to use an outside storage service for my pictures and videos but many like/love iCloud.

Yosemite 10.4/IOS 8.4
Check the following areas
On the iPhone/iPad in Settings>Photos and Camera turn iCloud Photo Library on, select Optimize iPhone Storage, turn Upload to my Photo Stream off.
On the Mac in System Preferences>iCloud>Photos>Options turn iCloud Photo Library on, turn My Photo Stream off. Then open Photos Preferences>General and turn Copy Items to the Photos Library on.
This will minimize usage on your iPhone and store all pictures in the Photos Library. The Photos Library is on your Mac, in the Pictures folder, back that up and you will a have a copy of all pictures ever taken whether deleted or not. Use Time Machine to perform the backup.

Aug 10, 2015 8:36 PM in response to Csound1by jtscola,Thank you, Csound1.
I did what you suggested and backed up on time machine. But when I delete a video from my iPhone it still deletes from my Mac...I'm assuming there is no way to keep the video on my Mac after deleting it on my phone?

Aug 11, 2015 8:47 AM in response to Csound1by jtscola,I tried sending a video to Theater in iMovie on my Mac and then deleting it on my phone. It wasn't deleted in iMovie. So I think that may be a solution to the space guzzling videos on my phone. Thanks again for your help!
