Surging sound on Apple tv

Sometimes the sound on my Apple TV surges and even rebooting everything does not fix the problem. Next day it seems to have resolved itself. Any ideas?

Hello brucie1131,

It sounds like the audio on your AppleTV is not consistent even after restarting it. I would recommend taking a look at the info from the following article to see if it helps you here:

Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation): Troubleshooting audio issues

If you continue to experience the issue after completing the above steps, try these steps:

  1. Set the audio output mode for the Apple TV:
    1. With your Apple Remote, select Settings > Audio & Video.
    2. Change the Audio Output setting from Auto to 16 bit.
  2. Turn off the Dolby Digital Out setting (your TV or receiver may not be properly detecting a Dolby Digital signal):
    1. With your Apple Remote, select Settings > Audio & Video.
    2. Change the Dolby Digital Out setting from On to Off.

If that doesn't resolve it, the last thing you can do on the AppleTV side is to restore it with iTunes:

If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen on your Apple TV
