apps stuck on "waiting" after restoring

I had an issue with my iPhone so i backed it up and reset it. Now when i restore from iCloud, it shows the correct date and will pull all of my photos just fine. However, all my apps are stuck on "waiting" and its frustrating. I can go in the app store and stop them and redownload them, but then i lost all the information on the app by doing that. Yes i can log back into Facebook, instagram, etc, but not all of my apps have a log in and i lose all of the information in it. I don't want to do that and there must be a way around it. Yes, I'm on wifi, yes I've reset the phone completely including a factory reset, and no the iTunes backup from my computer isn't in the time frame i need.

Someone please help me with this issue. Its extremely frustrating

Hi jarrjar,

I see from your post that you're concerned about your iCloud backup is taking a long time to restore, specifically with downloading apps. This is perfectly normal given you are restoring and downloading a lot of content all at once. Take a look below for some tips on restoring your device from iCloud.

Restoring my device from an iCloud backup is taking a long time

Restoring from a backup might take a while because of the size of the backup or the speed of the Wi-Fi network. For example, iCloud can take approximately 1 to 4 hours per gigabyte during a restore process.

There are several steps you can take:

  • In iOS 8 or later, check the progress of the transfer on your device under Settings > iCloud > Backup. In iOS 7, go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup. If the restore process is underway, the iCloud Backup setting is dimmed.
  • Make sure that your device is connected to the Internet with reliable Wi-Fi.
  • Make sure that your device is plugged in to a power outlet.
  • Check the Apple progress bar that appears while transferring a backup.

Go to Settings > General > Language & Region > iPhone Language, selecting another language, which will force Spring Board to restart.

Once the home screen appears again, you can tap on one of the apps that previously failed to restore. And these apps will start loading and installing without needing to tap on them individually.

Hi, I am having a similar issue. Mine was a local backup on iTunes, it "completed" successfully, but many of the programs are stuck on "waiting", aka greyed out.

The iPad was damaged, so screen replaced and same unit given back.

it is simply NOT DOWNLOADING from wifi or over the air using mobile data.

So, what solution exists for this problem?

Thank you.

Force-restarting the iPhone worked for me.

Just hold the home button and the power-off button until the screen goes black.

Then the Apple sign should appear and the phone will restart itself.

A few seconds after doing this, the apps that had been greyed out or stuck on loading started downloading and installing themselves.
