Step counter added 5k steps while I was sitting and knitting...

I was hoping to use my watch instead of continuing to use my Fitbit for monitoring activity. However I found that steps and distance kept increasing even while I'm inactive (on the couch knitting, with my phone on a charger next to me). Any ideas anyone?

Hi JoJo

Have you tried calibrating your Apple Watch? (outdoor walks / runs using the Workout app when you have your iPhone with you).

In addition to improving the accuracy of distance and pace measurements during walking or running workouts when GPS isn't available, the calibration process can also help to improve the accuracy of the calorie, distance, Move, and Exercise estimations in the Activity app. It calibrates the accelerometer by learning your stride length at different speeds and gets more accurate when repeated over time.
