Not able to cancel partial download on launchpad

I am using macbook air, recently updated my software to OS x Yosemite. the problem is at first I couldnt update so I tried downloading it from appstore. but I dont know how I got the update and it started updating. Now everythings good but I have partially downloaded icon on my launchpad, i tried cancelling it from appstore but its not helping it continues downloading and doesnt stop. please help me with this issue.

MacBook Air, OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

Whilst in Launchpad click and hold on the icon of the app that is downloading until it starts to shake. You should now see a little cross at the top left of the icon, click that and then select delete.
