Q: once i have backed up my iphone4 on the icloud do i then reset my iphone6 and restore from the icloud to my iphone6? will this put my old texts onto my 6?

i reset/erased my 6 and when i tried to reloaded from icloud my 4 backup was not there not available, only a 6 backup was available. this is hopeless. what's going on.
