does creating a new version in itunes change the resolution of a video to the ipad resolution?

can we change the resolution of a video to ipad air resolution using the CREATE A NEW VERSION in itunes?

Howdy m-s-h,

I understand that you're looking to sync a video from iTunes to your iPad, and would like to use the "Create New Version" functionality. This is, in fact, exactly what this functionality is for, to create a version of the selected video at the same resolution that your iPhone or iPad is capable of displaying. that's right but I wanted to know if a movie is wide and doesn't fit the screen of my ipad and has a lot of free space in the buttom and top of the screen, does creating a new version make it fit or get more appropriate for the screen of my ipad?

and also some videos that are not in mp4 format cannot be added to itunes library so I can't use creating a new version for them.
