Fake adobe flash player download

Accidentally downloaded the fake adobe flash player update - adobe_flash. I "skipped" everything other than the original update, but now I have Yahoo as my main search engine, which tipped me off that I did something "wrong". How do I find it and rid of it?

I have the same problem with different symptoms. When I open a window in Safari, Chrome or any other browser, a separate window opens as well with advertisement or a virus alert. Sometimes I can't even close it and have to relaunch the browser to get rid of it. Its been months and I'm tired.

In the forums I visited they suggest to update Mac Os. I don't want to do this because I'm afraid this will slower my mac. I hope there is an alternative solution.

Thank you.

If it doesn't work, try other tutorials from youtube. Its easy. You just need to find the correct files to deletes from your Library folder.

Good luck!

It is better to start a new Q&A session.
