Q: iPhone 5S SIM card issues: Phone Number - n/a

I have had my iPhone 5S for nearly two years now, and one day only recently, my friend tells me why my iMessage is originating from my email address and not my usual phone number. I go to the setting to see my phone number has been greyed off and I can't tick it for use for both facetime and iMessage, only my apple ID email. On itunes, my phone number appears as n/a.

What could I do please to get my phone number working for receiving and sending iMessages? Thanks.

Hi ade-aramide,

If your phone number is unchecked and grayed out in FaceTime and iMessage on your iPhone, then I'd like you to please sign out of iMessage and FaceTime on your iPhone, and then sign back in.

Messages

Tap Settings > Messages.

Tap Send & Receive.

Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.

Tap Use your Apple ID for iMessage.

Enter your Apple ID and password, then tap Sign In.
FaceTime

Tap Settings > FaceTime.

Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.

Tap Use your Apple ID for FaceTime.

Enter your Apple ID and password, then tap Sign In.
Sign in with a different Apple ID on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
