Aug 11, 2015 1:02 PM in response to pascaliroseby lllaass,Apple stopped update 10.6.8 years ago and since Safari is part iof OSX it has not been updated for years. It has security holes and some stites do notwork as yo found out.
You have two possible options:
- Try using a browser and is current. FireFox and Chrome are two such browsers that work on Snow Leopard.
- Update you Mac if you can. Your two option s are Lion and Yosemeite if your hardware allows:
for Lion:
OS X Lion - Technical Specifications
which you get here

Aug 12, 2015 7:56 AM in response to pascaliroseby Eric Root,Check that your computer is compatible with Mountain Lion/Mavericks/Yosemite.
To check the model number hold down the option/alt key, go to the Apple menu and select System Information.
- MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) model number 3,1 or higher
Your Mac needs:
- OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
- 2 GB or more of memory (More is better - 4 GB minimum seems to be the consensus)
- 8 GB or more of available space
Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported after 10.6.
Applications Compatibility (2)
Do a backup before installing, preferable 2 backups on 2 different drives. -
Aug 12, 2015 8:36 AM in response to pascaliroseby Lanny,The version of Safari that I'm using is 5.1.1.
Don't know whether that's a typo error or not.
Safari version 5.1.10 is the last version useable with Snow Leopard. It can be obtained here: https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1569?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
However, as others have said, even it hasn't been recently updated.
If you can't upgrade to the latest OS X version, you should start using FireFox or Chrome, as they are being kept up to date.
You may be able to upgrade to Lion, but if your cpu is 2.16, anything higher would be unlikely, as they weren't available in a MacBook Pro 3.1 or higher.
Even, if you could update to Lion, it's version of Safari isn't being updated either.
