can I download 4.2 apps on my 2nd generation iphone

Can I download 4.2 apps on my 2nd generation ipod? I attempted to find apps that websites have said will work with the 4.2 but when I go to download from app store they still need 5.0 or more.

You can only get apps that require the software version that you are running or,lower.

It depends on what the developer has decided, but in any case, you'll need to download the current version to a computer or newer iOS device first.
