Q: Key Photo is Black

Hello all,

Today, I opened iPhoto (which is rare) but I notice that after the last update, my key photos look like this:

I would really like to fix it to prior Update status.

I called support, they claim they are "discontinuing" iPhoto and will no longer support it!

Wow. Love the pride they show for what they sell us!

backup your iPhoto library a hold down the option and command keys while launching iPhoto and rebuild the thumbnails

I Have done that. It seems to have fixed the thumbnail issue!

NOW, when using  program that lets you insert photos, the library seems to be fractured. The photos will show in the finder portion of the program but some of them will not load into your project.

MY guess is that forcing us to upgrade to the newest version is the culprit. Maybe it's Apple removing long standing apps from the os is also contributing to the issues.

iweb is gone, iPhoto is gone. My iTunes library is jacked after dropping iTunes Match. What's next? Complete meltdown if you don't fork over a monthly fee to be 'in'? Like iCloud storage, music, or the like?

    1. You are not forced to upgrade anything. No apps are removed from the OS. A new app has been added to the OS - Photos.

    2. What's going on in your iPhoto Library sounds much more like a damaged library and has zero to do with upgrading anything.

    3. You might try repairing your Library or restoring from a back up. No app requires the use of iCloud storage. None.
