Importing pictures from SIM card to Photo works, but any attempt to enlarge/edit the photos are not possible. (File ARW - Sony A7R II).
Have I missed an update or am I just to early in my expectations?

I don't see your camera on this list, it is probably a bit early.
Caneraraw 9.1.1 (which is the end version of standalone tools of Adobe) has the ARW from Sony A7R II as the first cameraraw version, older versions can not handle this ARW.
If you can not use that do following
download Adobe DNG converter 9.1.1 and use it to convert to DNG, which will be a standard that can be read.

You're right, Lex. Adobe is quicker, yes. I just wanted to add the list of Apple's native RAW support, because we cannot use Camera RAW directly in Photos. I hate to have to fall back on external editors and to break the lossless workflow.
You are quite right (as always 😀), but there is no alternative. Besides, I convert all RAW from all cameras to DNG first:
DNG is compatible, DNG files are seriously smaller (in a lib of say 500GB that makes a good difference), all Adobe apps (and most others) can handle those.
Since Photos is by a long way not useable for serious workflows (even iPhoto is not) I use Lightroom and some plugins. One of the cameras is Leica (DNG).

a lot of cameras of even last year are not on this list. It is not "a bit ealry" it is VERY early. As usual.
That is why I referred to Camera Raw.

Luckily Aperture is still supported on Yosemite and I am using it for things I cannot do in Photos; I prefer to stick with Apple software. My main library is in iCloud now.
I am travelling a lot with my mac with me and am often in places where there is no (unbelievable) internet or very slow internet, so I do not use iCloud at all for this.
