Q: Confusion: Restore backup from iTunes when I forgot passcode

I can understand your concern with restoring from a back up with bring back a passcode that you forgot. Now the only way that any passwords or passcode are brought back, is if the iTunes backup was encrypted itself. if there is no password on the back up, it will prompt you to create a new passcode and also enter in any passwords for any email accounts that you have on your iPhone. So to recap, iTunes will only back up your passcode if the iTunes backup is encrypted and if that is the case, you would need to set up your iPhone as new.
