Why can't I move from say page one to page fifty without using thumbnails?

Pages '09, now discontinued, is still available from Amazon, and works under Yosemite. It has a status bar at the bottom of the document. By default, it shows Page 1 of n. Click on this page count section, and it changes to Go to Page: __ .

If you had Pages '09 installed, then updated to Yosemite and installed Pages v5.5 or later, the Pages '09 application would have been silently moved into your Applications/iWork '09 folder.

There are still a couple of options.

  1. Find someone that will allow you to use their external USB DVD/CD player. You won't need to install any drivers.

Purchase iWork '09 from Amazon, install, and immediately follow it with the Apple iWork 9.3 update. That gives you the latest updates.

  2. Find someone with a built-in DVD player in their Mac.
    1. On the same network, put the iWork '09 DVD into their drive, and on your Mac, use Remote Disc to access/install the DVD contents on your machine.
    2. Follow-up with the previous Apple iWork 9.3 update.

Existing Pages v5 documents will need to be exported to Pages '09 before opening them in Pages '09 v4.3.
