Problem with letterbox (Crop) in QuickTime playback

Hi folks,

I am editing some HD 16:9 footage in FCP 7. When I exported using QT Conversion and played the finished edit back in QuickTime, the image had not only a letterbox on it (top and bottom) but also at the sides, effectively vignetting the image:

How do I get rid of this unwanted 'effect'?

Thanks in advance,

Sean.

First off, the best workflow in my opinion is to export from fcp using file: export: quicktime movie (selfcontained) not quicktime conversion, using current settings. You then take the resulting file into compressor and use that to convert to your desired format. Compressor gives you much more control and the ability to achieve higher quality and faster encodes is some cases.

And of course, you haven't told us clip settings, your sequence settings and what settings you used for the export in quicktime conversion. Post those and we can probably figure out what's going on. In particular, tell us the pixel dimensions and pixel aspect ratio for the above.
