Q: CPU audio tracks are barely used, but the Disk 1/0 track is maxing out

It's been a constantly problem for me, but the overloading error just seems to be ridiculously common now for me. It seems like my CPU is just completely unbalanced but I have no idea how to fix this. The right hand side slider (Disk |/0) is pretty much constantly mid to high but the audio sliders seem to barely read anything (my middle two never reading anything at all). I can't find any idea on how to balance the CPU so the tracks are used. I feel like my specs should be high enough to compensate a dozen audio tracks with no plug-ins and a high buffer size. My specs are below with a screenshot of the CPU system monitor. Any idea on what I could do would be greatly appreciated. I'm pretty new to Logic and very new to forums, so any help would be a huge help!

Disk i/o and cpu usage (audio) are representing different things so they can't share the load. What kind of disk drive are you using? It must be slow or over filled or on a slow disk bus.

Also, you might try bouncing some of the tracks with tons of tiny audio regions  on them into long continuous files. This will cut down on the disk i/o load.

Thanks! I'm using the original 500GB HD and it's very very full so that explains why it's overloading so much more than a couple years ago! I'll also bounce down some of those tracks like you suggested. Would you be able to recommend if a SSD upgrade would be worth it? Or would clearing some extra space be good enough? I know that's dependent on needs and pretty vague a question, but I've never used SSD's before and don't really know how they compare to HD's in general.
