Q: Using itunes app after version 8.4 update

I'm attempting to use itunes on my new iphone 5s after having downloaded version 8.4 today.  I'm finding it very difficult to figure out.  I cannot find individual songs, as they are all listed under artists.  I cannot delete songs from a playlist or add songs to a playlist.  Is there a new tutorial somewhere that explains how this new app works?  Seriously, I wish I had never downloaded this upgrade.  It seems to be all about the new streaming music service and nothing else.  Help is needed and thanks.

Here is the tutorial for iTunes  https://www.apple.com/support/itunes/

I think you were looking for a guide about your Music App, not iTunes. You can download the iPhone manual to iBooks - it contains a section for your Music App. There are also various guides and podcasts on the web.

Hope this helps you, I know it is somewhat confusing for those of us (me) who were used to the old one.

Hello elcpu and thanks for your reply.  I did check out the link you provided for iTunes tutorial, but it seems to discuss iTunes for the computer and not the iPhone.  It does not address the specific problems that I'm having with the iTunes app on my iPhone.  As I stated in my original post, I'm having problems adding songs to a playlist, deleting songs to a playlist and just finding songs in general without having to first select the artist.  As for the Music App, is that the same thing as the iTunes App on my phone?  If so, it may help me to download the manual to iBooks, but am not sure how to do that or even if it will address my specific issues.  Thanks anyway.

There is no "iTunes" for iOS. I presume you mean the "Music" app. The iTunes app on the phone is the iTunes store.

OK then, it's the Music App that I'm referring to.  Thanks for correcting me on this.  Still, I'm unable to do what I could with the old version as I stated above.  Someone suggested that I turn off Apple Music in settings so that I could use it much as I did before.  Unfortunately, it has never been turned on, so that doesn't seem to be a solution either.

There is a brand new iOS out 8.4.1 that fixes a lot of Music issues per the release notes. Install that and see. Should help.

Are the playlists you are trying to edit created from using Genius or Smart Playlist? I've found and reported that ever since iOS 8.4.x these playlists arent editable. You can still edit any other playlist(s) that you created manually.

You can tell the type of playlist by checking the icon on the left of it. The genius playlists shows the genius icon, and the smart playlists show a gear icon. Regular playlists show album covers of the songs contained in that playlist.

The playlists I created are the regular ones showing the album cover.  Thanks for the info on this.

Actually, I found a pretty good tutorial online Using the new Music app - Apple Support that has helped a great deal.  I now know how to create and edit playlists without a problem by following the instructions there.

Now that I'm able to do this, I'll just ignore the Apple Music and Radio aspects of the music app.  I only use this app for music I've purchased either in iTunes of via a CD.

Thanks to all who have helped me with this.
