Q: Updated apps on Macos in itunes, cannot sync updated apps to iphone 6+ via USB

Running Yosemite 10.10.4 and Itunes 12.2.1.16. I upgraded all of my apps via itunes, but despite syncing and backing up my iphone, I cannot get the apps to update to latest versions no matter what I try.

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 8.4
