Q: Bluetooth help!

Hi,

I'm running 2 iMacs in my printing business both on 10.10.2. Customers will regularly bluetooth across their files for printing, however, in the last couple of days this has become very temperamental. The iMacs show up on customers phones, but when they send it comes back as failed.

Could this have anything to do with the number of paired devices? I've noticed there are absolutely loads of devices paired with each machine. Also, when I go to system preferences>bluetooth, they crash and eventually I'll have to force quit System Preferences.

Is there a way to reset bluetooth perhaps? Could the number of paired devices be causing this?

Many thanks for any possible solutions.

Wireless input devices: Bluetooth frequently asked questions - Apple Support

The official Bluetooth specifications state seven is the maximum number of Bluetooth devices that can be connected at once. However, three to four devices is a practical limit, depending on the types of devices and profiles are used. Some devices require more Bluetooth data, so they are more demanding than other devices. Data-intensive devices may reduce the total number of devices that can be active at the same time. If a Bluetooth device becomes slow to connect or does not perform reliably, reduce the total number of connected devices.

Thank you. Is there an easy way to remove all paired devices? Each time I try to go to SystemPreferences>Bluetooth it crashes. Is there a system file anywhere which deletes all paired devices?

    Thanks

Back up all data before proceeding.

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.Bluetooth.plist

Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select

Services Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)

from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and empty the Trash.

*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select

              Go Go to Folder...

from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You may not see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
