You don't need iTunes match to home share. You should be able to set up your MacBooks as before but read this Use Home Sharing to share iTunes content with other devices on your home network - Apple Support

Further to my previous post, it would appear that the ability to home share with iOS devices was removed when iOS 8.4 was introduced. However you can still sync your music using USB or wifi provided you have not subscribed to Match or Apple music.

Aug 13, 2015 7:45 AM in response to Jimzgoldfinchby JeepsDirty,Yes I can still sync my music with iTunes and take up storage on my devices. It just takes away the ability to listen to all of my music from a base station now. Kind of defeats the purpose of sharing.
Home Sharing movies still works fine though. It also seems my videos home sharing has my purchased music now. Wonder whats up with that.
