Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit Installation Error

Hi Everyone!!!

This post is regarding the installation of Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit

I tried installing Windows 7 Pro ( 64 Bit ) On my Mac running the latest version of Mac OS X Yosemite.

I used Bootcamp Assistant and followed all the steps. Creating the .iso file , windows support software and also made a 150GB Partition.

Note that I have the ORIGINAL Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit Software Installation Disc. I did NOT use any counterfeit version of Windows or any other third party software for the installation of Microsoft windows.

I used the Apple USB Superdrive to get the .iso file from the disc and did the installation steps.

Now , Windows.

While installing windows , I found that I had to format the partition that bootcamp had created for windows . That went well.

I installed windows and when my Mac reboots , I get this error saying that Windows was not able to start up. Because " Windows could verify the digital signature of the file " -- \windows\system32\drivers\AppleSSD.sys " error code - 0xc0000428 . I don't know HOW this happens and I have tried installing windows about 4-5 times now and every time , I get that annoying error despite BOOTCAMP downloading the Windows Support Files.

FYI , My Trackpad and Keyboard work Perfectly

When using Bootcamp I got a message that said I had to install windows & support files later . -- Could this be the problem??

If so , then how do I install the "support files" ?

I would really appreciate it if some one could help me out on this.

Thanks a Bunch!!!

Matt

Just to make sure misty53.

  1. Create boot USB as usual
  2. Download 5.x drivers, unzip, copy and replace in USB root directory (I used a 3.0 and it looks ok)
  3. Run bootcamp to install win7. (It said not driver found at the first time before i can choose which windows version i can install. I close that window without restarting and click install again, it found my USB driver.)

And are you sure the driver version you downloaded fit your hardware? I know most likely it fits, but double-checking won't hurt.

Cheers and good luck.

Maybe a couple of screenshots of what you ran into could help as well.

Thank you!!! After spending many hours, I followed your instructions and W7 is now installed. One problem: I'm unable to connect online! Both wireless adapter and Ethernet/USB not recognized. Message: "Windows did not detect any working hardware".

How do I get the drivers?

I have windows 7 up and running again, except my usb poorts are not working! and yes I have the right drivers, my mac is from end 2012 21.5 inch, I think the drivers for usb are on the chipset, I just hope I dont have to go through all this again! Surely Apple need to take some responsibility for this problem and, not leave us the consement searching for a solution, after all we pay a **** of a lot of money for our machines. Anyone an idea over the drivers for usb poorts would be much appreciated.

After Windows 7 was up and running did you navigate (from within windows) to the flash drive and run the "Setup" located in the "BootCamp" directory on the flash drive? This typically will install the drivers windows needs to work with the mac components specific to your machine. This was part of the files you downloaded and applied to the flash drive before installing windows.

the usb didnt work so I couldnt get back into the thumb drive, but I saw that all going in automatically after windows was installed, I just cannot get the USB poorts to work, have tried everything now, the wireless adaptor doesnt work either, so I am having the same problems as TOFKAN

1. Please download Paragon NTFS for Mac Trial version.

2. Copy the Bootcamp folder from your USB to the Windows BC partition in a directory that you will remember.

3. Reboot into Windows.

4. Go to the directory created in step 2.

5. Run setup.exe from folder in step 4.

I tried everything even doing as you suggested putting that file where I could find it, I pressed the setup.exe and got a message that it couldnt install as was missing the a file on it, so have started all over again and see if it works the 3rd time, I am missing the usb driver and the wireless driver. I contacted Apple support again, and they will not help, they said they do not support Windows!!! and was told in the new computers they dont even do a bootcamp setup. I shall let you know what happens later on, all I want is the usb driver.😕

I think I have found the reason why we are missing drivers instead of replacing the files we should add them or merge them

Double-click the Boot Camp5 folder.

• Copy the entire contents of the .zip file to the root level of a USB flash drive or hard drive that is formatted with the FAT file system

• When running Windows, locate the Boot Camp folder on the USB media you created in Step 3 and double click to open it.

• Double click on setup to start installing the Boot Camp Support Software.

• When prompted to allow changes, click on Yes and follow the onscreen instructions.

• Installation can take a few minutes. Don't interrupt the installation process. When installation is complete, click Finish in the dialog that appears.

• A system restart dialog box appears. Click Yes to complete the installation.

I have been replacing the files, it clearly says to copy the entire contents, and nothing about replacing the ones already there??

I have been running BootCamp 5x for years (Since 3 years ago) with Windows 7 Ult 64bit / 8.1 ent with no issues. My sin was to try to load Win 10 after the release.

1. I tried to update Win 7 to Win 10 that didn't work.

2. I saw that they have BootCamp 6 is out and it support Win 10

3. What a mistake, now it get stuck with the same error that everyone is getting Windows failed to start. I manage to delete AppleSSD.sys

4. Windows was loaded on Bootcamp, then I can't get access to USB to load the drivers.

I think the instruction to say download old Bootcamp 5x are not very clear. That file does not extraxt, I think the person who is giving instruction if you could please post step by step or pictures how you did it. That file does not apper to be zipped. Please!

Who messed up here Apple? If you remember they said they will not support Windows 7/ BootCamp anymore but then where do you get the KEY for Windows 10 if you are upgrading from windows 7.

I have manage to install Windows 10 (update from windows 7) on Parralles. But BootCamp is different issue.

I downloaded key finder https://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/ you can get the key to your windows on that. The instructions here are excellent and very easy to follow, just make sure you have the correct windows files for your computer you can find that here Systeemvereisten voor het installeren van Windows op een Mac via Boot Camp - Apple Support follow the instructions here above by Loner they are 100% correct, problem is one cannot see the thumb drive to install the drivers on it as the usb ports dont work, I am now uploading that whole map onto google drive and will download it to my desktop on the windows partition from there, Apple wont help, they say talk to Microsoft, Microsoft say talk to Apple. I have even tried driver genius to get the driver, but no luck. Windows 10 is **** and full of bugs, best stay away from it until they have fixed the issues on it. Success with your installation, I shall let you know if my idea works.

I was having all these same issues and here is what I did to get it to work. I'm doing this from memory so if it seems convoluted bear with me.

1. Download the BootCamp 5.1 drivers from Apple (or the ones for your computer). This is a zip file and it will extract to the desktop under a BootCamp 5 Directory. Do not use BootCamp Assistant to do this.

2. If you haven't already done so, go to disk utility and delete the bootcamp partition (if you already created one) and then repartition the OS X drive back to it's full size.

3. You must install Windows 7 from a USB thumb drive. Tried it with a external DVD drive several times and it didn't work.

4. To get a bootable USB drive from a Windows 7 DVD (if you don't have an ISO file) use Koala 1.1 which can be downloaded from the intranet onto a Windows 7 or later computer with a DVD drive.

5. Format a USB drive with NTFS (at least 8 Gig). Run the Koala program and select the source of the DVD with the Windows 7 drive in it. Select the output to the USB drive. After it is done you should have a USB drive with Bootable Windows 7.

6. Take another USB drive formatted with Fat32 and copy the files (from your mac) the extracted bootcamp files on to it. Do not include the Bootcamp 5 directory. Only the Files below. Take that USB drive and put it into a Windows computer and copy the files to the Bootable Windows 7 USB drive's root directory that you made with Koala. Now everything is on the one bootable Windows 7 USB drive.

7. Boot your mac into OS X without a Bootcamp partition. (Previous step 2,)

8. Start bootcamp assistant. When you get to the screen where is asks to download support files etc click those buttons off. You only want the one at the bottom where it says install Windows 7. Click next.

After I did all that, it did everything automatically. Didn't have to delete the AppleSSD.sys or anything. It rebooted several times, the apple wired keyboard and mouse worked and it installed all the drivers automatically.

It was easy peasy using this system.

Good Luck.

My Windows 10 on Parralles is working very well, the first image to go into production was bad. There was major update few days ago for Windows 10 it has fixed many issues. Lucky I still have one partition with Windows 8.1 but I am fulltime on Windows 10 now no issues at all. I run have been running MT4 (Trading) the first release font was bad now it is fixed ( Resoltion issues are much better).
