Apple TV not being recognised by Smart TV

My Samsung smart TV has just stopped recognising my Apple TV. I restarted my Apple TV and since then the smart TV doesn't recognise that it is connected. Have restarted the Apple TV again, unplugged and turned everything on and off but nothing.

Any suggestions?

Sorry, I wish I had the answer, does anyone? Usually I find answers here but not this time.

Just got an RCA Smart TV and am having the same problem, it should be an easy process to plug in Apple TV.

I did all the same things you did and nothing. I may have to return the "smart" TV and get a regular LED TV.

Apple should make TV's too then the interface will be easy as we all know, Apple products are intelligent, intuitive and user friendly.

Try a different HDMI port on the TV. The relative smartness of the TV has no effect on its HDMI connections. Also try a known good cable, to rule out that possibility. Your ATV may be locked on an incorrect video format. Try holding Menu and Volume Down (Menu and Up arrow for older ATV) for 5 seconds to trigger a scan of modes. Select OK when you get a picture and go from there.
