How should I configure my Airport Extreme Time capsule to get the best out of BT Infinity with Homehub 4?

Hi all, I have just bought an airport extreme Time Capsule and also an airport express to try and improve my home wireless coverage. In my house I have an iMac, Windows 10 PC, 2 iPads and an Android tablet so good wireless (and wired) coverage is essential.

I currently have Bt Infinity running on a Homehub 4 with separate Modem. The signal from the home hub alone gets lost and I have major black spots.

I believe I can remove the Homehub and just connect the airport direct to the modem but have no idea a) if its worth the effort and b) what the settings would be!

I have tried from reading articles on other sites but have not succeeded to connect and get an Internet connection.

If anyone has any advice on what is best to do and a guide for dummies I'd really appreciate it.

The following two configuration options would retain the modem & Homehub4. You can go with either or any other combination that best suites your networking requirements.

Note: ">" = Ethernet connection; ">>" = wireless connection. In neither option can the Time Capsule extend the Homehub4 using a wireless connection between them. It must be a wired one. In the first option, the Express will be connected to the Time Capsule by wireless; in the second one it must be connected by wire as well.

Option 1

Modem > Homehub4 > Time Capsule >> AirPort Express
The Time Capsule would be reconfigured as a bridge.
Both the Time Capsule and the Express would be configured for an extended network.

Option 2

Modem > Homehub4 > Time Capsule > AirPort Express
Again, the Time Capsule would be reconfigured as a bridge.
All three routers would be configured for a roaming network.
