How do I cancel an ongoing subscription?

I was charged for a monthly renewal of an app I haven't used for 4 months and all of a sudden I am charged for this month. I don't understand and want a refund.

I already contacted the app itself and they told me to seek help from Apple.....????? I stopped the renewal but I am still charged for this month until Sept 9.

Sounds like you've done your due diligence - contacted the developer with your issue. If they claim you need to take it up with Apple, I would suggst doing just that, with any and all info you have from your contact with the app's developer (names of people you spoke to, exactly what was explained to them, and how they replied.) You can generally schedule a callback from Apple with mac app store related purchases, and don't need a device with Applecare coverage.
