Alesis SamplePad Pro

Hi

I have an AlesisSamplePad Pro and am using Garageband.

I want to record a drum track using the sounds on the SamplePad but so far am only able to trigger Garageband's internal sounds. I have read in some places that Garageband doesn't allow you to record external sounds, is that right?

Can anyone help?
