Q: where do deleted songs go?

When I delete a song from the iTunes library, it doesn't go in the trash it disappears.  Now it is no longer in my MATCH, or HARD DRIVE.  Also, songs that are said to be in the iCloud aren't there when I try to access them.  I get an exclamation point and am prompted to ask to locate it.  It's supposed to be in the cloud.

    Hi,

It sounds like your using the recent version of iTunes which operates differently from the previous version which utilized the "check mark" option asking if you wanted to keep the track in iCloud. The new version gives the option to delete the song (both cloud and locally) or the option "Remove Download" which only removes the track from your device. This option keeps the track in iTunes Match. You can temporarily disable iTunes Match by turning off iCloud Music Library which allows you to remove local tracks for placement in the trash. Here's a link to address the explanation point issue.
