Q: Music video copy protected

Today I purchased a music video from iTunes and it downloaded it as a copy protected file.  Why?  I thought music was now DRM free?

Music is DRM free, videos (music videos, films, TV shows) aren't - they can only be played through iTunes on a computer or on iOS devices.

    Music videos are DRM free:

iTunes Plus refers to songs and music videos in high quality AAC format that don’t have Digital Rights Management (DRM).

All songs and music videos now for sale in the iTunes Store are iTunes Plus.

That does not include music videos. The link you posted simply says that music videos and music purchased in the iTunes store are iTunes Plus. It only says that the music is DRM free, not the videos.

Music Videos are considered "music" and not a "video" and up until yesterday have been DRM free. I currently have 175 iTunes videos on my Samsung Note 3 that play just fine.  I'm wondering if it has to do with that bug that's been mentioned around the Internet that popped up in the latest version of iTunes?  I'm not currently subscribed to iTunes Match but have been in the past.

... on my Samsung Note 3....

If you have an Android phone, you should not be going anywhere near the iTunes Store.  Buy your content from Amazon.  It is very flexible:  you will be able to play it on the Amazon app for Android, the Amazon app for iOS, etc.

As you may have noticed, there is no iTunes app for Android.

I use Amazon for ALL my music purchases. However for MUSIC VIDEOS the only two sources I know of are YouTube and iTunes. Usually if one doesn't have it the other does.

You are correct! I had no idea all this time that music videos could not only be used on my iOS devices, but I just copied some videos to my Note 4 and they work.

Also, someone else mentioned that people who use Android phones should not be using iTunes. No other online store sells music videos.

I have over 300 music videos purchased in iTunes.
