Why don't the column settings in Activity Monitor save upon quitting the app under 10.10.x?

Why don't the column settings in Activity Monitor save upon quitting the app under 10.10.x?

I find this very frustrating because I want to be able to have the info I deem relevant to be in the first set of columns.

Every previous Mac OS X release had no issue with this. I have also noted that in the first beta's of El Capitan this problem still remains.

Any fixes?
