I can no longer see my the scanner in my 3-in-1 Brother MFC J5910DW. I can print to it, see ink levels etc but neither preview nor image capture can access a document on the flatbed.
Any thoughts please.

Get in touch w/Brother Support and/or post in their forums since it is their product. Afterwards, depending on the outcome, check out KB Article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669Printer and scanner software available for download & do the necessary.

A friend lent me a USB cable and after one thing and another including downloads from Brother (which were supposed to have been included in 10.10.5), a factory rest of printer, removal and adding printer etc I am back up and running.
