itunes not recognizing iphone

itunes is no longer recognizing my iphone 5. I have backed up my phone on this computer before, but it has been a while. I have tried 3 different cables in 3 different USB ports. I have rebooted the phone and the computer. In the process of trying all of these things, my phone asked if it should trust this computer 3 or 4 times. I clicked "Trust" each time. The phone charges when connected to the computer and I am able to download photos in Image Capture. It's just not showing up otherwise. Thanks for your help.
