Q: Need help please!!

I've been try to follow the instructions set up BootCamp on my new iMac but something seems to have gone wrong somewhere; could do with someone to walk me through the remaining steps.

So far, I have managed to set up a 200Gb Boot Camp partition on my iMac - currently empty.

I have a Windows 8.1 ISO sitting on my Desktop, and (as instructed on the Apple site) a USB stick with what I assume is installation data/instructions on it. (see pic below)

What do I do next?

Thanks!

Thanks - I've read those articles but they don't help.

I've already made the ISO on a USB Drive. When I open Boot Camp Assistant It only seems to want to make another copy of the ISO.

How do I get the info on the USB Drive into the Boot Camp drive.

One question: what app did you use to create the Boot Camp partition? If you used Disk Utility, remove the partition and restore all the hard drive space to your OS X partition.

After doing that, open Boot Camp Assistant (in /Applications/Utilities), mark all the options (create a Windows USB installer, download the Windows support software and install Windows) and follow the steps. If you have got any doubt, check the official installation guide -> How to install Windows using Boot Camp - Apple Support

After creating the USB installer and downloading the support software, your Mac will restart and it will start up from the USB installer. Just follow the steps to install Windows, and format the partition labelled "BOOTCAMP" when Windows asks you where to install it.

OK - I've fired up Boot Camp Assistant - I didn't check the first box as I already had a USB drive with the info on it; I did though click the box about downloading new drivers; however this has just appeared:

Should I click this?? - I don't want to lose all my Mac data!!

Close Boot Camp Assistant. It seems that your Mac is ready to install Windows.

In order to start the Windows installation, restart your Mac. In case that your Mac does not start up from the Windows USB installer, hold down the Alt key while your Mac is starting up and choose the "Windows" option with a USB icon. Then, follow the steps and do what I told you in the last paragraph of my first reply.

Hmmm - OK, I got it to boot into Windows (ugh it's ugly!). I can't use my Mouse but the keyboard seems to work if I use the Alt key and a letter.

So I got as far as where to install Windows, selected the Boot Camp partition - but it says it can't be installed:

    Any ideas?

    Thanks for help so far!

Boot Camp Assistant uses FAT32 to format the Boot Camp partition, but this filesystem is no longer valid since Windows Vista. Just choose the "BOOTCAMP" partition and press "Format". Then, press Next and the installation will begin.
