Q: The amount of Available Memory listed in Disk Utility/About This Mac is not the same as the amount found when I "Get Info" my disk. What does this mean?
I have 16 GB of RAM but only 251 GB of Flash Storage on my MacBook Pro Retina.
I recently deleted over 100 GB of video files from Final Cut Pro. When I go into finder, and "Get Info" the drive there, it informs me that I have 148GB/251GB as Available storage. However, when I check in Disk Utility/About this Mac, I am informed I have only 37GB free.
The >100GB that I deleted in video files is listed as "Backups" in the Storage tab of "About This Mac".
Does anyone know how to delete what is listed as "Backups", or at least know what is causing this ambiguity in available storage space?
MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10), 16GB

This support article explains what 'backups' are:

They can be ignored since they will fall off if space is needed for other data.
Ciao.
