Q: iTunes 12.2.2 - HELP! All of my playlists and movies are gone!

I have just updated to the new iTunes and upon opening I have found that all of my playlists and Movies/TV shows are gone!! I am a group fitness instructor so all of my playlists are for my classes that I teach and I have choreography videos in my TV shows.

I understand that my macbook is quite old and will be getting a new one soon, but it has no issues whatsoever until this.

MacBook Pro (13-inch Early 2011), iOS 8.4.1

Same for me. All of my playlist are gone !

What Apple say about the 12.2.2 upgrade:

«Fixed a problem where playlists displayed in the action menu may not match the playlists in your library »

    What they did:

    Erase all !

    Thanks Limnos.

This can help but I think that itslykieg have the same problem as me:  the Music library are OK. I see all my content.

The problem is the playlists. All the playlists that I see is the default playlist (90's Music, Classical Music, Top 25... etc.)

    Thanks Limnos,

On close inspection all of my music (except two- three artists) is gone too!! I tried the steps in your link however for some reason my "Previous iTunes Libraries" only has files from 2008,2009,2010 and 2011 in it?

My Playlists are also like Favro's - all reset to the default ones

No, it is just there are many possible configurations of issues.  It will also get very confusing very quickly if we try to help three different people in a single topic in a situation where each person may need customized answers.  Typically unless a topic so closely matches your situation that it isn't necessary to actually post anything it is better to start your own topic.  In your case in particular you need to do this because all I have seen in posts from you so far in this and other topics  is "doesn't work" and nothing about what is happening when you actually try things.

Everybody: If your media files are gone too then the rebuilding library doesn't help much because a library file points to files it needs to play, and those files seem to be missing for some of you.  They will have to be restored from a backup you have of your entire computer, re-downloading from the iTunes Store, or from whatever the original source was (e.g., CD).

Limnos, IT WORKED! I wasn't clicking Home --> Music. I was going through Documents. For some reason they were different.. Anyway all my music is back so thank you so so much!

Question, the file iTunes Library that I dragged to the desktop in step 3; do I now trash that?

    Thanks again!
