max memory for macmini4,1

I have a mac mini 4,1 unibody mid-2010. I'm getting conflicting information regarding the maximum memory I can put in it. I'm running OSX 10.10.4. One memory vendor says max= 8Gb another 16Gb. Which is right?

16 GB (2x8). Just get the memory from a place that says it will work in a 2010 Mac Mini. Macs are picky about memory

If, you're getting conflicting information from some dealers, that might be a good reason to avoid them.
