iPod Classic 120GB. unresponsive, freezes on hard reset at apple logo. If I can get it to disk mode before it freezes with perfect timing, it freezes there before I can connect to pc (5sec max). Only once was it plugged in long enough for my computer to try and install drivers before it froze. HELP!

Unless I am missing something, it looks like I need to be able to access the ipod for any of those things. Would that be an accurate assessment? I am not able to do that, so I was hoping for some sort of manual override. At this point, I feel like I just need to get it to disk mode or some other mode without freezing somehow.
You should be able to access the diagnostic mode to read the hard drive stats. They may tell us whether or not it is likely that anything else will help.
