Is speed me up safe?

I am getting pop up ads on my iPad Air almost constantly. It doesn't seem to matter what website I visit. Any ideas? Also, does anyone know anything about SpeedMeUp? It's a proxy I guess and it's supposed to block all ads. I can't seem to find any info or reviews to determine if it's safe. Besides, how am I getting pop ups and ad injectors appearing on top of web pages on my iPad Air?

THanks

iDevice Safari Phishing Adware Pop-ups

Your device does not have a virus. You can fix this as follows:

Kill Safari by double-tapping on the Home button. Locate Safari in the task bar, then slide the Safari mini-page upwards so it vanishes.

Tap Settings > Safari > Clear History and Website Data.

If this doesn’t help, then reset your device. It won't delete your data. Press and hold down the On/Off button and the Home button until the display turns off and returns with the Apple logo showing.

Alternatively, follow these instructions to reset your device: Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support.

THanks Kappy,

I've done all that still to no avail. Some research shows many others are having this issue as well for whatever reason. I did try and currently I'm using SpeedMeUp which for whatever reason gets read of those ads. Of course the jury's still out on its security so I'm not using my iPad for any sensitive functions.

Thanks for the info. Everything I have, which is all Apple is updated to the latest Update. The AirPort Extreme (Tower) is updated too. The only thing in my lineup not Apple is an Arris/Motorola modem but as far as I know it is updated to the latest software too. I get no spam or ads or pop ups on my Retina iMac or my 5s So I'm at a loss.

TO everyone, I do appreciate your imput. Keep throwing ideas my way. Thanks!

I would suggest that you back your iPad up to iCloud or iTunes, import your photos to your Photo app, then go to:

1. Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings

2. Set up the iPad as new and restore it from the backup you just made

3. Test your Safari to see if your issue has returned

4. If it has not, then you should be good to go. If it has:

5. Erase your iPad again but do not restore it from the backup

6. Start manually downloading your Apps via the iTunes Store and check Safari as you go

What you are doing here is trying to determine if you have corrupted data or apps on your device. If you are able to isolate the culprit, then you can get rid of it and you should be OK.

Best of luck,

GB

That makes sense, something has become corrupted but then I thought about the websites I visit. Mostly tech sites of varying types, all kinds of news sites. The issue happens mostly on fluff news sites like MSN. When clicking on an article where info is dispersed by three or more slides of sorts, the side bar usually on the right side has ads injected on top of the words. Does this type of thing happen to anybody else? Is this really only common to me? Just thinking aloud.

Thanks GB
