Changing playlist background color itunes in ver.12.2.2.25

I just updated iTunes software to 12.2.2.25. Suddenly all the background color on my playlist displays what ever it wants, usually the color of the first album's artwork like magenta pink. I just want it plain...you know like white. How do I change this auto color background and keep it from defaulting to the album artwork? Very frustrating.

Thanks for any help

I have this problem at the moment after updating to version 12.6.1.25 except the view option to use colors is missing any ideas?

This thread is now out of date. The original post and most of the answers are nearly two years old, since which iTunes has been updated more than once. RLNTEX's response from last year mentions this.

I suggest you start your own discussion and explain in your own words what problem you are experiencing.

Thanks for this. The all black backgrounds were driving me crazy.

At first I was confused by your instructions though. I was looking around under the "Edit" drop down.

I believe you meant to say:

Under "iTunes" on the top left (between the Apple icon and "File" drop down), click "Preferences"

Select the "General" tab

Uncheck the box that says " Views: Use custom colors for open albums, movies, etc."

I like having a darker color on my playlists, but not the default colors it gave me. So you can simply download a dark colored picture to somewhere on your computer, click on the square in the top left corner of the playlist that has the album artworks and use the picture you downloaded to change the background and text color to your liking.

If the new feature bothers anyone and they prefer the "vanilla setting" (the alternating gray/dark-gray rows), I noticed you can also switch between display options using the drop-down menu at the top right of the screen. Playlist will give you the album-cover-as-background, which I actually prefer but it was only showing up on a few of my playlists (I don't know why iTunes had half of them set differently...); Songs will give you iTune's "vanilla settings" with the header only using the album color; and there are a few others of course.

Hope that helps as another alternative!

Hi Kaioke, thanks for your advice to change the colour in my ITunes folders. It worked in my PC but the folders still have different colours in my IPhone, which is so annoying. Any idea of how I can change them to plain colours, which are easy to see? I did Sync the phone after I changed the colours as per your sugestion and I also turned phone off and on again. It still didn't change the colours in my IPhone. Please help....thank you.

Just did this.

Created and saved a white background .jpg to my desktop. Then in iTunes I clicked on the square in the top left corner of each playlist that has the album artworks and used the white .jpg to change the background and text color to white.

Then synced my iphone.

Now all playlists on the iphone have a white background.

Hi Dwhatty, Many thanks for your reply. I tried doing what you suggested but it didn't work. Can I pls ask you for a detailed process on how you do it?

For example, I have one of the playlists in front of me. Then I click on the square on the left hand side. I get stuck there. So do I have to click on Library,

get album artwork?? I did this and it comes up with a message. I am not sure if I need to click on it. Please help. Thanks so much.

Yesterday I went to the apple store and the guy that was serving me said that I was the first person asking about this. I said to him, maybe have a look in

the Apple support page, you will see how many people are unhappy about it. Anyway, he said that the colours can't be changed. Not happy.

Thank you for your assistance, I appreciate it. V
