Q: How do I clear up space on my MacBook?

For a while my MacBook Air (Yosemite 10.10.4) had 90 GB on the hard drive, and then it went down to 80 GB out of nowhere. I didn't even install anything or import photos, videos, etc. Could it just be old files that have accumulated on the hard drive? I only use my computer for internet browsing, Spotify, MS Word, and iTunes of course (only like 2.6 GB in music). Is there any way I can clean my Mac? I tried those software cleaners from the App Store, but I don't exactly know what it's deleting, so I figured I'd ask here first. Thanks.
