I updated to Yosemite and now Mail keeps asking for my password.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8), External Hard drive is a Passport.

What is the complete text of the password prompt? Anonymize any personal information, such as your name.

Try going to Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access and delete the password from there. While there, run Keychain First Aid.
