iMessage Mac

Thank you to whoever can settle this.

I would like to link my phone number on Messages for my Macbook Pro. I have searched through the forums on this site, and none have solved my problem. My phone number does not show up on accounts that can be added, even when I sign out of both (my iPhone and Macbook) and sign back in, in either order. The issue might have to do with me recently switching the email address used for my iCloud account. I just bought the Mac and used the new email address from the start. My iPhone started with my old email address account and I recently switched that over.

If it's any help, when I text using my iPhone, an icon appears in the dock that says I'm sending a message. This is a separate icon from the message app that constantly stays in the Macbook dock. I haven't figured out how to merge them or keep the one from my phone, however; it'll disappear after the message is sent/not sent.
