iPhone music app does not show synced artist

I've got an extensive library of music sync'ed from my Mac to my iPhone 6. But I'm noticing that the artist listings on my iPhone's Music app are missing artists whose songs are sync'ed and who show up as artists in iTunes. The songs are certainly on the iPhone, and they are tagged with the appropriate artist, but the artist listing in the iPhone music app does not show them.

I usually browse by artist and queue things up, so this is seriously impeding my listening.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Okey, after facing this problem over and over for some years now, I come to all of you with an ultimate solution that will work regardless of whatever problem you're facing with music tags.

This problem occurs because iTunes is poorly coded and uncapable of fixing songs ID3 tags, which means that even if you try to upload your songs using iTunes Library and fix their tags one by one, you will still be getting this issue once iTunes does not handle tags properly and does not know how to fix them for you.

The solution is to download an alternate ID3 tag editor and re-write all your songs tags in order to iTunes (dumb) to be able to read them on its own poorly coded way.

Solution:

I'm using a Windows based system, so i've downloaded a free softwared named Mp3Tag ( https://www.mp3tag.de/en/ )

After that, all you have to do is:

01) Open Mp3Tag

02) Go to: Tools > Options

03) Expand Tags > Mpeg

04) You will face the following window: https://imgur.com/a/VBHIc

05) Check the boxes exactly as you see in the picture

06) Load ALL your beloved songs into Mp3Tag, it will look like this: https://imgur.com/a/uHI2F (Search google to find out their location on your computer)

07) Check the tags and fix any missing infos on Title, Artist and Album Artist: https://imgur.com/a/dCsmq

08) Select all the songs (COMMAND+A on Mac or CTRL+A on Windows) on Mp3Tag and hit the save button: https://imgur.com/a/yCZpm

09) Remove or unsync all songs from your iPhone and re-upload or resync them back.

10) Done! See the magic happens.

P.S.: I myself am using the option "Manually manage music and videos", but if you're not, you can still "Sync" them again to your iTunes Library and then to your iPhone. If you don't know how to do that, search google for more info.

Exactly the same. Took me a while to realise but having now seen it I can see it affects loads and loads of artists. The tracks are on my iPhone - I can create smaller playlists containing the tracks and they appear (but the way Music displays the lists is never in order so it's useless). Really not impressed with Music on iPhone - only ever been a nightmare for large collections.

I think I found the root of the problem: search for your artist on iTunes, right click on song (or all songs at once for that matter), go to Get Info...there's a field there called "album artist" - which is probably not edited yet - write your artist name and sync your phone again...it should solve the problem. Downside you have to do it one artist at the time...no idea why apple needs two "artist" categories anyway, just extra work to organize the whole...

I have had this same issue and this thread helped me solve the issue.

Like Ana2000 the issue is in the Album Artist.

Album artist is used to determine the artist the entire album or project belongs to.

You can use the regular artist tab to name all the artist on that certain song.

when you click get info to edit the Song/Albums there is a check box that reads "Album is a compilation of songs by various artist"

IF THIS IS CHECKED you can find the album in the Compilation section on your phone rather then Artist.

User uploaded file

by unchecking this you will now be able to see the Album listed as whatever you named the" Album Artist" in the artist section of your phone.

hope this was clear and helps.
